Carbon Laser Peel
Carbon peel also known as Hollywood peel is a very simple yet very effective treatment for stubborn pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles and active acne. It is also very useful for enlarged pores and uneven skin tone.
The entire procedure takes around 30 to 45 minutes and involves the use of a Q switched NdYag laser. The procedure has no down time meaning the patient can go to work the next day itself without any peeling of the skin or any discomfort.
Carbon laser peel has got the following steps:
- Application of carbon solution: this involves application of a carbon solution which contains very fine nanoparticles of carbon which penetrate the skin pores and reach deep layers of the skin. The lotion is allowed to dry and as it dries the carbon particles will bind with the dirt, oil and other impurities on the surface of the skin.
- Application of warming laser: the second step is giving a first pass of Q switched ND yag laser. This increases the penetration of the carbon solution into the deeper layers of the skin.
- Pulsed laser : this second pass of laser is used to break down the carbon particles and thereby release them from the deeper layers of skin. The heat that is produced from this breaking down process also stimulates the production of collagen inside the skin which is very useful for the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. It also destroys any bacterial growth in the skin which may be responsible for development of pimples and acne.
