A carbon peel is a painless, non-invasive treatment. The patient may experience slight tingling and warmth on the skin. The entire treatment, which involves the application of the carbon paste and the laser procedure is usually complete in approximately 45 to 60 minutes.

What is the procedure?

The procedure involves the following steps:

• The doctor will spread a thin layer of nano carbon solution to your face. This carbon solution absorbs oil, dirt, and dead skin cells from deep within the pores of the skin.
• In the second step, the Nd:YAG laser is passed over the skin on a low-energy setting. This allows the carbon particles to penetrate deep into the pores of the skin where they are supposed to act.
• In the last step, the laser is passed again in a higher-energy setting, to fragment the liquid carbon into tiny particles. The heat generated helps to stimulate the synthesis of fresh collagen and leads to a healthy complexion. Skin structure is strengthened and open pores shrink in size.

What happens immediately after the treatment? Is there any downtime?

There may be a mild redness after the treatment. Most people experience glowing, radiant skin and reduced acne and pore size within a week of the first treatment session.

What’s the aftercare following a laser carbon peel?

• Use a sunscreen regularly with at least SPF 30+ for at least a couple of weeks following treatment
• Use gentle cleansers. Don’t use harsh soaps.
• Moisturise your skin regularly by using a light moisturiser for a week following the procedure.
• Don’t use any products containing retinol or exfoliating creams for at least five days after treatment.

How many sessions are required?
