With age there is a gradual loss in the elasticity of the skin. As a result it leads to loosening and laxity of the skin and development of wrinkles on the face. Different laser techniques are available for skin tightening and to reduce the development of wrinkles over the face.

Radiofrequency technique for skin tightening: Radiofrequency is a very effective non invasive technique for skin tightening. This involves the use of a radio frequency laser which heats the Deeper layers of the skin. This is also known as THERMAGE laser. The rise in temperature of the skin leads to production of collagen in the skin. The collagen thus produced inside the skin Leads to a firmer and younger looking skin with decreased propensity for wrinkles and age spots.
The radio frequency technique is done once every 6 to 8 weeks. Each session requires about one hour to be completed. The procedure is generally painless and only a mild warmth sensation is felt during the procedure. Usually a minimum of 4 sessions are required over the face for optimum results. The effect that is thus produced after the initial sessions, the effect of procedure can be maintained by taking maintenance sessions once a year.
High intensity focused ultrasound ( HIFU Laser Technique): The HIFU laser also known as high intensity focused ultrasound is a very effective laser technique for skin lifting. It heats the deeper layer of the skin known as SMAS LAYER using a focused beam of ultrasound. This HIFU laser provides a very focused beam of ultrasound which heats the skin from within and leads to tightening and lifting of the skin. This laser is very effective for lax skin around the eyes and for lifting the skin around the jaw line and neck also known as jaw lift. These sessions of HIFU are done just once in 6 months. The effect can be seen upto 1 to 2 years.
Fractional laser resurfacing : This is done using a ERBIUM YAG LASER or a ERBIUM GLASS LASER. This laser is used to peel away the dead layers of the skin from the top. It is very useful to improve the texture of the skin from the surface. It leads to removal of any age spots and blemishes on the surface also and leads to fresher, rejuvenated skin. This technique is usually combined with the RF technique for skin tightening which leads to both surface change of the skin as well tightening from the deeper layers of skin through RF also.
